For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for interiors. I came to it genetically I think, as my grandmother and great aunt were exceptional designers. Watching them create floral masterpieces, set a table or rearrange furniture fascinated me and left an indelible mark.
Designing spaces that clients love is what I love to do. Quite unexpectedly in 2018, the opportunity to open a little home furnishings shop presented itself which quickly grew to a bigger space.
Helping people create beauty in their own homes with our pieces has been a joy that I never could have expected.
How this came to be...
Sometimes your calling calls to you. That was the case for me in both design and opening a retail shop. I never aspired to either.
In 2009 I ran by a vacant store front in Ross, CA and thought "what if I opened a pop-up shop to sell some pieces I’ve collected…?”
It was a "jump and the net will appear" moment, as looking back, I knew absolutely nothing about retail. But, thankfully I did it, because it sparked the sequence of events that led to both my design career as well the opening of my current Mill Valley store.
The two paths - design and retail - compliment one another beautifully and allow me to delve deeper creatively than if I had just one. While the path has had its bumps, it's thrilling to see how far FarmHouseUrban has come, and where it’s heading. Thank you for joining us on this journey. The best is yet to come!
