Before I started posting about our Europe vacation, I probably should have prefaced by saying – it was not our typical family vacation – at all!  Since my husband is on the road constantly, he racks up a crazy amount of frequent flyer miles and hotel points.  We prefer staying home over weekends away or local vacations 'saving ourselves' for someplace special. So every few years we put the miles to use and go for it.

I received a couple of emails inquiring about our Paris apartment rental, so in case anyone else was wondering, I thought I'd mention – at almost 1,200 sq. feet, two bedrooms (one bathroom with shower and a half bathroom), secure building in a fantastic neighborhood it was only $2,100 for 7 nights.  A great deal, especially if you eat breakfast and some other meals at home as we did.

Phew.  That out of the way, on to the Chianti region where we called this 10 room hotel – a renovated Tuscan ruin – home for three magical days.

Let me show you around…

I've been obsessed with this bed detail.  An antique piece of molding with gathered fabric behind the headboards.  The neutral colors are the perfect compliment to the deep red and yellowy green.
